Core service / Seamless finishes

Microcement
floors + surfaces.

Hand-applied seamless finishes for floors, walls and architectural details in contemporary commercial interiors.

The right system

A continuous decorative system built in layers.

Microcement is a hand-applied, low-build decorative finish for suitable floors, walls and fitted surfaces. Its final appearance and durability depend on substrate preparation, reinforcing layers where required and the protective sealer.

Decide where the finish will be used, how it will be cleaned and what moisture or movement it may face. Approve colour, trowel texture and sheen on a representative sample before installation.

01

Best suited to

Commercial interiors seeking a seamless, hand-applied material finish.

02

Primary outcome

A continuous low-build surface across selected floors and walls.

03

Designed for

commercial and industrial projects.

Technical overview

What commercial microcement means in practice.

Microcement is a thin, multi-layer mineral finish applied by hand over a stable, correctly prepared substrate. Its character comes from subtle trowel movement rather than aggregate exposure.

01

Choose it when

design-led commercial interiors requiring seamless visual continuity across selected surfaces.

02

Check before specifying

substrate stability, waterproofing where relevant, edge details, traffic, colour sample, sealer and cleaning products.

03

Finish expectations

Microcement is hand applied, so subtle trowel movement is intrinsic. Agree colour, texture and sealer sheen using a representative sample.

04

Cleaning + maintenance

Use approved pH-neutral products, felt protection beneath movable furniture and rapid spill removal. Avoid abrasive pads or aggressive descalers unless approved.

Polished screed is generally better suited to larger floor areas and heavier commercial traffic.

Specification framework

Decisions to fix before tender.

01Substrate

Confirm soundness, movement, moisture and compatibility with the complete layered system.

02Detailing

Resolve corners, joints, penetrations, thresholds and interfaces before application.

03Finish

Approve colour, trowel texture and sealer sheen using a representative sample.

04Care

Define traffic, wet use, cleaning products, furniture protection and sealer maintenance.

Delivery method

Surveyed, sampled and delivered in-house.

01

Site survey + substrate review

Condition, flatness, contamination, repairs, access and programme constraints are recorded.

02

Finish specification + sample

Appearance, performance and realistic slab variation are agreed before full installation.

03

Controlled installation

Our specialist team manages preparation, finishing, protection and handover.

Specification questions

Questions to settle early.

Is microcement the same as polished concrete?

No. Polished concrete refines a concrete slab; microcement is an applied layered finish over a suitable prepared substrate.

Is microcement waterproof?

A decorative coat alone is not waterproofing. Wet areas require a compatible system and substrate detail designed for that use.

Will every area look identical?

No. Hand application creates subtle variation; sample approval should establish the intended range of movement and tone.
