Power trowel / Industrial

Industrial power-trowel
floors.

Large-format concrete floors planned from slab installation through densification, refinement and final protection.

The right system

Plan the surface alongside slab construction.

Industrial power-trowel floors use the new slab as the operational floor. This is useful where a large, continuous wearing surface is needed and the programme allows finishing requirements to be coordinated with the concrete contractor.

Specify traffic, loads, abrasion expectations, flatness, joints and cleaning regime at design stage. Sample acceptance should account for normal variations in trowel marks and concrete colour.

01

Best suited to

New-build industrial, logistics and manufacturing facilities.

02

Primary outcome

A robust, economical floor with the character of the original power-trowelled slab.

03

Designed for

large new slabs with a coordinated finishing specification.

Technical overview

What industrial power-trowel floors means in practice.

An industrial power-trowel floor is designed as a finished operational surface from the outset. The slab contractor and polishing specialist must align finishing quality, curing and protection to preserve a polishable surface.

01

Choose it when

large new factories, distribution buildings and production facilities with repetitive traffic.

02

Check before specifying

loadings, FM tolerances, dry-shake compatibility, curing, joints, armoured edges and handover protection.

03

Finish expectations

The visual result follows the placing and trowelling of the slab. Early coordination matters more than attempting to correct avoidable defects later.

04

Cleaning + maintenance

Protect the slab during construction, then use neutral routine cleaning and pads suited to the final treatment. Joint care remains part of the building maintenance plan.

Specification framework

Decisions to fix before tender.

01Slab design

Coordinate concrete mix, placement, flatness, joints and the intended finished-surface standard before the pour.

02Finishing

Define trowelling responsibilities, timing, curing method, surface treatment and a realistic sample standard.

03Operation

Record wheel types, loads, turning areas, contaminants and cleaning equipment for each zone.

04Protection

Plan construction access and temporary protection so later trades do not compromise the finished slab.

Delivery method

Surveyed, sampled and delivered in-house.

01

Site survey + substrate review

Condition, flatness, contamination, repairs, access and programme constraints are recorded.

02

Finish specification + sample

Appearance, performance and realistic slab variation are agreed before full installation.

03

Controlled installation

Our specialist team manages preparation, finishing, protection and handover.

Specification questions

Questions to settle early.

What should be agreed before the pour?

Agree responsibilities for mix, placing, trowelling, curing, joints, protection and the final surface treatment. Late decisions can limit achievable appearance.

Is a power-trowelled floor automatically polished?

No. Trowelling creates the initial surface; any later refinement, densification or protective treatment must be separately specified.

Can the finish be perfectly uniform?

Concrete colour and trowel marks vary with placement and curing. A representative sample sets the expected character, not identical repetition.
